Synopsis
Marvel Studios brings together an unlikely alliance of antiheroes in Thunderbolts. Yelena Belova, Bucky Barnes, Red Guardian, Ghost, Taskmaster, and John Walker are recruited for a high-risk mission—but not by choice. Trapped in a deadly game orchestrated by the cunning Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, these misfit operatives must face their own haunted pasts and navigate a mission that could break them—or make them.
As personal demons resurface and loyalties are tested, the question looms: will this fractured team self-destruct, or rise above their flaws to become something greater? Redemption, betrayal, and explosive action await in this bold chapter of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Plot
Haunted by the loss of her sister, Yelena Belova works as the personal enforcer for Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, now the head of O.X.E. She eliminates traces of a covert "Sentry" project at a Kuala Lumpur research facility, unknowingly walking into a bigger conspiracy. Meanwhile, newly appointed Congressman Bucky Barnes pushes for de Fontaine's impeachment over her secret superhuman experiments.
As questions about loyalty and identity rise, Belova visits her surrogate father, Alexei Shostakov (Red Guardian), who encourages her to reclaim her purpose. Belova requests a public mission and soon clashes with Ghost, U.S. Agent, and Taskmaster inside the O.X.E. Vault in Utah. When the mission goes south, the operatives barely escape an incineration trap set by de Fontaine.
Among them is Bob Reynolds—a man with a fractured mind and a terrifying secret: he's the only surviving subject of Project Sentry. As the group goes on the run, they discover that Reynolds holds the key to something far more dangerous.
While the Thunderbolts bond over past regrets and near-death experiences, they’re captured by Bucky Barnes, who aims to use their testimonies against de Fontaine. But she’s already one step ahead—unleashing Reynolds as the superhero Sentry in a bid to publicly eliminate the Thunderbolts and restore her image.
The plan backfires. Sentry's unstable mental state unleashes his darker persona—the Void—plunging New York into chaos. After the team splinters, a guilt-ridden Belova willingly enters the Void, confronting both Reynolds and her own inner demons. Together with the team, she helps Reynolds confront his past, allowing him to reclaim control and reverse the destruction.
In a last-ditch media move, de Fontaine spins the Thunderbolts as her "New Avengers" to save face. Belova, knowing the truth, asserts control over the narrative. Reynolds is sidelined to prevent another Void incident, while the others awkwardly embrace their new public identity—complete with cereal box endorsements.
Fourteen months later, as they argue over a trademark lawsuit from Sam Wilson, a new cosmic threat emerges. An extra-dimensional spacecraft approaches Earth—its insignia: a bold number
